Group Discussions
Periodically, our teacher divides our class up into several small groups to analyze a certain piece of text or discuss a certain topic. These “lit circles” most often cover an assigned work of literature that we have read and annotated independently. We come together in a small group setting to discuss the author’s purpose, tone, and use of rhetorical devices, among many other things. Doing so allows each of us a turn to express our own views on the topic and to hear others’ views, as well. In this particular picture, my group and I are analyzing Virginia Woolf’s Professions for Women.
